You'd better watch out,
you'd better not lie,
you'd better be good, I'm telling you why,
Jesus Christ is coming to life!

He knows if you've been stealing
He knows if you have raped!
He knows if you've been bad or good,
He'll be back on the third day!

Oooohh....you'd better watch out,
you'd better...not...

Happy Zombiessiah Day

oh, and sorry about the Easter Carol ;)

...the bad grammar, self-righteousness, opinions/negativity bludgeons combined with the vast array of very cool resources never ceases to amaze.

As a result of late night loopiness, I thought I'd add more condescension and unnecessary opinions to the vast array of tubes.

Sorry for the throw-away post, I blame sleepiness-induced cynicism ;)  Enjoy your Wednesday.

The song Louisiana 1927 with Randy Newman and the Louisiana Philharmonic might be one of the most powerfully emotive songs I've heard in a long time.  The memory flood (no pun intended) ranges from an unexpectedly deep well of nostalgic feelings, to a distant sense of direction and purpose.  Posts like these seem to be the only ones I make lately.  I'll make an effort to be a bit more devoted.

Poem of Bilbo's, from the Lord of the Rings

I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

You know, I DO get a pretty strong pyromaniacal urge whenever I see a lovey-dovey couple...

disclaimer: This is just amusing, I do not feel this way.

ps- If this is s.a.d., spring needs to get its ass here.  I feel un-good.

As [info]bloqeeth mentioned mentioned in his post, Creston caught a bat in the library tonight.  I helped, but Creston-from discovery to capture-was chasing this bat around most of the library for quite a while.  Eventually, it was caught in my hoodie (this took many many tries, we always managed to let it escape again) and Creston securely and delicately restrained the bat (I don't know what kind yet, Tony Palmer and I are doing some research and are going to convene sometime tomorrow).  Tony arrived two minutes later (Creston was working at the library, and thus couldn't leave), and we took the bat to DHS, and made a hasty home for the bat, in hopes that it will hibernate again and can be released in the spring.

To summarize:  Creston does not feel fear, Tony is the next Steve Irwin, and bats are still amazing.  My interest is rekindled.

update: 9:20am-Big Brown Bat.

I get it body, you're sick.  Just let me sleep at night.

One of my favorite writers is as much a Tolkien-phile as much as I am.  He is also obsessed with maps and atlases.  And apparently reads my mind . . .

"Since childhood I've always been attracted to things that dwarf me, that make me feel small. This was what captivated me about Middle-Earth, I think. For whatever reason, there's an eerie sense of beauty to be found in recognizing our frailty as solitary human beings -- a beauty I've always associated with awe."  from here
